A Week of Whisky Wonders

All Scotland Whisky Tours can be adapted to suit, this one starts in Glasgow and is based on four people, with superb tastings along the way. You can add on and change distilleries where possible and of course, travel as a couple or bring more friends.

It’s a superb 6 night/7 day tour staying in a castle hotel, also an exec room in a hotel overlooking Oban bay, finally a great traditional, Victorian hotel with great food and whisky bar. With higher end tastings this is an idea to whet your appetite.

Marcus meets you and with a dram in hand and whisks you away to the west coast, “west is best” as us Scots say. Depending on where you arrive in to, we take you to either the lovely Loch Lomond or Doune Castle (made famous by Monty Pythons’ Holy Grail and Outlander).

Today, you have The Taste of Oban Tutored Tasting. Check into your hotel in an executive room with sea views – welcome to the seafood capital of Scotland!

If you wish you can visit the 14th century Duart Castle, home of the Chief of Clan Maclean.  Return to Oban and overnight as above.

We head south today to Speyside in the heart of whisky country.  En route we can drop into Benromach Distillery to sample a scotch flight.  Or we can take you the pretty Strathisla Distillery, other options are Glendronach and Benriach Distilleries.   Overnight in Elgin in a traditional Victorian hotel that has great food and a good whisky bar.

This morning there are drop in options at Glenallachie, Cardhu, Glenfiddich and at Aberlour Distillery you have the Deconstructed Tasting. Time for lunch in a scotch inn with over 300 whiskies to chose from, very much a local pub.  This afternoon, one of our favourites, a full tour of Balvenie Distillery seeing the barley being dried, the Coopers at work repairing casks and finally sample 5 drams, a perfect day!  Overnight in Elgin.

Leaving Speyside we head south, you have time for a drop in tasting at Dalwhinnie Distillery then on to the Victorian town of Pitlochry, where you can take a pub lunch and pay as you dram at Blair Atholl Distillery (Bells). Alternatively, a private tasting at Robertson’s Whisky Shop.

Then your final tasting, at the French owned Tullibardine Distillery (superb wine finishes), where you sample their core range of 6 drams.  Finally, return to the city you arrived into, where Marcus leaves you. We hope you have enjoyed your time with Scotland Whisky Tours and hope to see you again.

You can add on to this tour with a night or two in the cities, we’re happy to suggest accommodation to suit your budget.
