Sensational Speyside

All our tours can be adapted to suit and start in Glasgow or Edinburgh and are based on four people.  You can add on, shorten, and change distilleries where possible and of course, travel as a couple or bring more friends.  Here’s a superb 4 night/5 day tour staying in Elgin, the heart of Speyside, the largest whisky region with over 60 distilleries.  Stay in a traditional, Victorian hotel with great food and whisky bar.

Marcus meets you and with a dram in hand whisks you north. You head over the Forth Road Bridge, then onto Perthshire. Your first tasting is the lovely Connoisseur Experience, tasting 5 drams at Aberfeldy Distillery (Dewars).  It’s a really interesting distillery with a small museum, seeing the original equipment from centuries ago.  Then north to drop in to Dalwhinnie Distillery where they pair chocolates with their scotch. Finally, you check in to your hotel in Elgin, a traditional Victorian hotel with superb food and an excellent whisky bar.  This is where you will spend the next four nights.  Enjoy your first night in Scotland.

Over the next three days there are many options, for Scotland’s distillery tours – here’s our suggestions:  The Glenlivet Distillery Visionary tour sampling 3 delicious drams, the Aberlour Deconstructed tasting lovely sherry finishes, the Speyburn Hopkins Experience sampling some of their oldest and rarest expressions and something very different, the Blending Experience at the pretty Strathisla Distillery, where you create your own Chivas Regal Blend.

Drop in at as many Scotch whisky distilleries as you wish:  Craigellachie, Cardhu, Benriach and of course Glenfiddich.  Drop in dramming means you buy flights to suit your taste and as many of them as you like!

Leaving the heart of whisky country you head south to the Victorian town of Pitlochry where you can enjoy lunch in an olde worlde pub. Then pop into Blair Atholl Distillery (Bells) to buy more drams – their bar is made from an old mash tun – makes a great photo. Or alternatively we can arrange a private tasting for you in Robertson’s Whisky Shop.

Finally, one of our favourites, a 6 dram tasting experience at Tullibardine Distillery.  This is a French owned distillery who experiment with cognac, port and wine cask finishes.  Then it’s on to Edinburgh/Glasgow (probably a little bit tipsy) where Marcus leaves you.

You can add on to this tour with a night or two in the cities, we’re happy to suggest accommodation to suit your budget.
